The Greens to support solar battery

The Greens to support solar battery

With the support of the Australian government, getting solar installed has become a lot more cost-effective than in the past. Solar panel costs have reduced considerably. The Greens are all set to do the same for solar batteries.

The Greens will provide loans and grants to homes and businesses for installing solar batteries.

Grants of up to $5,000 for individuals ($10,000 for small businesses).
Additional low-interest loans of up to $10,000 ($50,000 for small firms).

The grants would be worth no more than half(50%) of the entire cost of installation.

Incentives to favor electrification

In order to move people away from gas consumption, the Greens plan to provide organisations and residences with grants upto $25,000 and loans of up to $100,000.

The grant portion of the project will be limited to 20% of the overall cost, but might be increased to 50% for a family if they are completely disconnected from main gas within six months. The party also wants to collaborate with state and territorial administrations to prohibit gas lines from being installed in new home complexes.

Power Australia

The Greens aim to create a 100% publicly owned non-profit electricity provider. The corporation would provide low-cost electricity to all Australian industries, lower-cost electricity to families, and more green energy adoption.

Where will the money from this come from?

The Greens’ plans of promoting solar are very promising but who will pay for this?

The money will mainly come from:
Imposing a ‘billionaires tax’ on the super-rich requiring extremely profitable major firms to pay a ‘corporate super-profits tax’ eliminating fossil fuel sector subsidies

The Greens’ plans of promoting solar and battery installation are encouraging and important for the country’s shift from fossils to renewables. If the party wins they sure have big environmental and energy policies in line for the people.
