Buying Solar in 2022? Now is the Right Time
We often keep putting away our decision to switch to solar because we feel, maybe now is not the right time or I don’t have the finances yet or is it really worth the investment? But here’s what- you will save much more the sooner you make that decision and get solar installed. Imagine cutting down on those huge electricity bills and also being able to receive some amount for providing electricity to the main grid. Sure sounds like a good deal and another bonus- you help the environment!
Here are 2 reasons why now is a better time than later:
Solar rebate is on its way to reduction
Solar rebates given through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) come under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. The scheme was launched in 2017 to promote the shift towards renewable sources of energy and will end in the year 2030. Each year the value of this rebate decreases.
The number of STCs you receive depends on the capacity of your panels, the location of installation in Australia, and the year of installation. The value of STCs fluctuates with the market conditions.
Keep in mind that the rebate depends on the installation date and not when you buy the system. So if you buy now and think about installing next year or later, the installers will quote you a reduced rebate.
The Chinese energy crunch has quite complicated the situation. With rising costs and shipping, there is a huge impact on production. This has put Australian installers in a fix. Now, this situation won’t last forever and while the Chinese government is also working on finding solutions, it is time for local manufacturers to bloom.
As long as the challenges exist, it is clear that one needs to shift to solar as soon as possible. Better now than later. Even if the costs go up temporarily it will still be a great investment in cutting down your future costs.
You just need to make an informed decision. Take all the time that you need to research well and then make your decision.
